Leaves Something to be Desired

I went to the Potpourri house for a lunch with some friends. We all got the salad bar. I tried a bunch of different things but really only liked the regular salad. As far as a "salad" bar, it doesn't offer very much. It mostly has lots of different pastas, some disgusting tuna stuff, and other dishes - not really what I imagine with a salad bar. The baked potatoes were decent and one of the soups were good, but after hearing such rave reviews about the bar for so long, I was definitely disappointed. Plus, it was a little pricey for me since I ended up not really liking anything. When I went there for a private banquet at dinner, the food was a little better. It was definitely unique and different, but not really to my taste. The salad provided was their spinach-strawberry salad. I didn't expect to like it, but it was okay. The strawberries (which I thought would be the only thing I'd like) though were pretty gross tasting. The atmosphere is nice and it's one of the few places in Tyler that you could dress up or dress down. The shop is great - a big selection of different types of gifts. I guess you'd call it a "boutique." It's a tad pricey, but not too unreasonable. It's definitely geared towards older women. I'm in my 20s and while I appreciate the gifts and like some things, most seems a little too old for me.

I love me some Potpourri House. They have the best collection of Jim Shore pieces in Tyler. Their food is also good. The salad bar is very good and the items that I have tried off the menu have also been good. Its a very romantic place too, so take your honey and enjoy.....

Will never go there again

The Potpourri House appears to be a charming establishment, but once there the food is below average, over-priced, and overall left something to be desired.

The Potpourri House is one of the nicest places to eat in Tyler. The food is always good and the service is excellent. You will not be disappointed in this nice little restraunt. You can do a little shopping while you are there as well. I have had lunch and dinner and have enjoyed both. You can't go wrong eating here. expect to spend about $10 - 12 buck for lunch but it is worth it. The food is usually pretty healthy as well.
